The months of April and May are part of what’s called the “shoulder season” in our little mountain valley, which I’ve been told is because we are in between ski season and our actual summer season. However, I am convinced this time of year is referred to as the “shoulder season” because of the amount of shoulder shrugging that is required by the people who call this area home year round. What can you do when you look out the window in May with your morning cup of jo and see a snow filled back yard? You throw a tantrum shrug your shoulders and head up to dig out the winter sweaters that you just packed away during a week of beautiful sunny skies and temperatures in the 60’s.

Most sane people go on extended vacations this time of year to avoid the shoulder, mud and road construction seasons (lucky!), but if you’re in the interior design business you keep your happy self here as this is also the short window for spring remodels.

Why all the shoulder shrugging instead of throwing things in an epic tantrum (who me?), or looking at real estate in a more temperate climate? Because we all know whats coming. Drumroll please…Fun Time Colorado Summertime!!!!!! It’s short but sweet, and better than anywhere else on earth. So in honor of that upcoming happy time we’ve put together a little dreamy patio setting for those of us here counting the weeks until that first backyard BBQ and frosty margarita. xoxo LKW
